Amidst all the political, economic and financial chaos engulfing us, there is cause for cautious optimism. Two causes, actually. Net zero is stumbling badly in the court of public opinion and a new trade deal may mean Brexit is recured.

At least, that’s the upside potential of the new debate on net zero, and the intention to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership. But is it a forlorn hope?
